Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
Manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Disaster Studies and Climate Resilience should be prepared as a single-column, double-spaced Word document, not exceeding 8,000 words (including references, figures, and tables). Use a 12-point font size, preferably Times New Roman, and ensure that figures and tables are embedded within the text at their appropriate locations.
The corresponding author must be clearly identified, and the manuscript should include the email addresses, ORCID iDs, current institutional affiliations, and full mailing addresses of all authors.
References must be cited in the text using the author–date format (e.g., Smith, 2022), in accordance with the Harvard referencing style. The reference list should appear at the end of the manuscript and include DOI numbers wherever applicable.
The following mandatory statements must appear in the manuscript and be positioned immediately before the reference list:
-
Conflict of Interest, CRediT Author Statement, Data Availability, Acknowledgments
Authors must explicitly disclose any use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the research or manuscript preparation process. The use of AI for assistance (e.g., grammar correction, data visualization support) is permitted with appropriate acknowledgment. However, the use of AI tools as autonomous generators of content or analysis is not allowed. For guidance on what constitutes responsible AI disclosure, authors are referred to:

Authors are strongly encouraged to consult a recently published article in the journal to ensure compliance with formatting and content expectations.

Articles
International Journal of Disaster Studies and Climate Resilience (IJDSCR) publishes original, high-quality research articles that make significant contributions to disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, environmental management, geospatial sciences, and related interdisciplinary domains. Submissions should present well-structured empirical studies, methodological innovations, or theoretical advancements supported by data analysis. All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process and must demonstrate academic rigour, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope. Articles should be between usually <8,000 words, excluding references, tables, and figures. Authors are encouraged to align their research with sustainable development goals (SDGs), equity considerations, and practical implications for policy, humanitarian aid and community resilience.
Book Review
The Book Review section features concise, critical assessments of recently published books (< 2 years old) that advances knowledge / practice in DRR, climate resilience, emergency management, or related fields like natural hazards etc. Reviews should be less than 1500 words (including references) and must begin with a full bibliographic citation of the book in APA 7 style. Unsolicited submissions are welcome but please email the Section Editor first to confirm suitability. Reviewers must have no financial or personal conflict of interest with the author(s) or publisher. Any collaborations or biases must be declared in a “Competing Interests” statement.
New thesis - dissertation findings
In addition to full-length research articles, the journal also encourages researchers—particularly those at the PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s level—to publish components of their thesis work. These submissions may include research findings, methodological insights, or field-based observations aligned with the journal’s scope. Such contributions need not follow strict academic formatting and may incorporate anecdotal experiences, field challenges, or reflections encountered during the thesis journey. The goal is to provide a supportive platform for emerging scholars to share their ideas and engage with the wider academic community. All submissions will be peer-reviewed, with a supportive review process especially designed to mentor and guide early-career contributors.
Conference Reports
Well-documented conference reports that summarize the proceedings, key discussions, and outcomes of academic or policy-oriented meetings relevant to the journal’s scope are invited. Such reports should highlight emerging trends, significant presentations, and collaborative opportunities discussed during the events.
